Helene and Gunnar chose the most perfect date when they chose to get married at Helgøybakkane Fruktgard in Ryfylke the last Saturday of May. The sun was shining, the wind had settled and the 40 000 fruit trees surrounding Epleriet venue on the tiny island were in full blossom. Monday morning, after the wedding, they got a text from the locals on the island telling them all the flowers on the trees had fallen off and that most of the experience of visiting the island was already over for this time.
After the ceremony at Karmøy island we shot some portraits in a nearby forest and some by the coast before we joined their family and friends and hopped on the boat Helgøy Glimt for a two hour guided trip through the fjords and up to Helgøy island. At Helgøy island the locals had gathered both on the dock in and in little boats to welcome us with flags, balloons and hurrays.
The local venue, Epleriet, served a delicious tapas dinner and home made fruit drinks. The rest of the evening was spent all around the little island and ended with a magical sunset and mini photoshoot amongst the apple trees before getting back on the boat and enjoying the calm waves and blue hour on our way home.
